Meet Roxy our new puppy. We got her on Thursday afternoon and she is so cute. We were told that her mother was a pug and her father was a chihuahua/terrier mix. To me she looks like a miniature lab.
We are allergic to her, me more than Christophe. But we are going to see if I get use to it after a little bit. Roxy was 7+ weeks when we got her. We think it was a little early for her to leave her mother, but the sellers were, lets put it nicely, interesting. She does fairly well with not making too many messes for as young as she is, so that is nice. Below is a picture of her with Daniel to show how small she is.
On Thursday night we ran to Walmart to try to find her a bed, more food and a toy. The food was all to big, not much in the way of toys, but Christophe did find her a bed. However, she didn't like it. We would put her in it and she would just walk out, even if she was a sleep and we put her in there, she would immediately wake up and get out. The next day Christophe went to the pet store to buy her a crate which she utterly refuses to be in. Spoiled dog! So on Sunday we cleared out our laundry room except for the washer and dryer and blocked her in there and left for church. She was yelping as we walked out the door. We sat out in the hall to see if she would stop. After a couple of minutes, we decided that we couldn't go back in, that it would teach her that she could just whine and someone would be there to make her happy, so we left for church. We decided to check on her after sacrament meeting and she was still whining. We had no idea what we were going to do Monday when we were both at work.
Well some friends from the ward came over to meet our new dog and gave us a suggestion to put up a baby gate to give her more room. So, when Christophe left for work, since we didn't have time to go buy a gate, stacked her crate and a box full of books in the hallway. Before he even left for work she had jumped on top of the box of books and gotten free of her confinement. Christophe reworked a little and left. Roxy whined for about a minute but then stopped. Christophe was afraid that she had gotten out again so he went back in to make sure. He found her on her bed that she hated, chewing on her toy.
While I was on my lunch break I was right by my place so I stopped to make sure she wasn't whining. I stood by an open window and by my door and didn't hear a thing, so I thought we were OK. But when I got home from work she was sitting on our couch. She had pushed her crate enough to get through. Smart stinker. Luckily there weren't any messes.
